چکیده

We present herein the most complete characterization of microneedle (MN) potentiometric sensors for pH transdermal measurements time being. Initial in vitro assessment demonstrated suitable analytical performances (e.g., Nernstian slope, linear range response from 8.5 to 5.0, and fast time) both buffer media artificial interstitial fluid (ISF). Excellent repeatability reproducibility together with adequate selectivity resiliency facilitate appropriateness new MN sensor ISF analysis healthcare. The ability resist skin insertions was evaluated several ex vivo setups using three different animal skins (i.e., chicken, pork, rat). developed able withstand 5 10 repetitive all considered a minimal change calibration graph (<3% variation slope intercept after insertions). Ex were validated by determining commercial electrode chicken portions previously conditioned at values, obtaining excellent results an accuracy <1% precision <2% cases. Finally, applied very first rats two innovative validation procedures: (i) measuring subcutaneous directly microelectrode (ii) collecting hollow MNs then measurement sample microelectrode. values obtained statistically more similar measurements, as inferred paired t-test 95% confidence level. Conveniently, approaches could be translated other analytes that are transdermally measured sensors.

A microneedle roller for transdermal drug delivery.

Microneedle rollers have been used to treat large areas of skin for cosmetic purposes and to increase skin permeability for drug delivery. In this study, we introduce a polymer microneedle roller fabricated by inclined rotational UV lithography, replicated by micromolding hydrophobic polylactic acid and hydrophilic carboxy-methyl-cellulose. These microneedles created micron-scale holes in human...

Microneedle-mediated transdermal bacteriophage delivery

Interest in bacteriophages as therapeutic agents has recently been reawakened. Parenteral delivery is the most routinely-employed method of administration. However, injection of phages has numerous disadvantages, such as the requirement of a health professional for administration and the possibility of cross-contamination. Transdermal delivery offers one potential means of overcoming many of th...

Toward Self‐Powered Wearable Adhesive Skin Patch with Bendable Microneedle Array for Transdermal Drug Delivery

A wearable adhesive skin patch for transdermal drug delivery is developed with bendable microneedles, dry adhesive and triboelectric energy harvester (TEH). The bendable microneedle array can overcome the needle breakage issue. The dry adhesive can realize a conformal attachment. The TEH can generate power when attached on flat skin or joint to power active components to be integrated in the fu...

Microneedle electrodes toward an amperometric glucose-sensing smart patch.

Here, efforts toward the development of a microneedle-based glucose sensor or "smart patch" for intradermal glucose sensing are described. Metallic microneedle array electrodes, conducting polymers, and glucose oxidase form the sensor platform. This work represents the first steps toward the development of painless, transdermal-sensing devices for continuous glucose monitoring.
